Beware of Air Duct Cleaning Scams this Summer

You may have seen the flyers, coupons, even online advertisements for deep-discount air duct cleaning services.  If it feels like these HVAC companies are throwing away these services by offering a full air duct clean for a four-bedroom home, you may be right!  There are a handful of HVAC companies or independent contractors looking to use these dirt-cheap rates as a foot in the door to dupe unsuspecting homeowners into paying for extraneous repair work they do NOT need! Lisa Guerrero of Inside Edition reporting: It’s important to keep in mind that this is a news story about a particular crooked organization… there are few HVAC companies that exist and thrive on such an unscrupulous business model.  Here at Arctic Air Conditioning, our dedication to quality work and customer service is far ahead of any of our competitors.  We would NOT have survived 40 years in the HVAC business if we had anything less than excellent service.

In a typical year, the average home in America generates up to 40 pounds of dust which is then re-circulated through the home 5 – 7 times every day.

Our Air Duct Cleaning Services are performed with care and yield numerous positive benefits to your home and the people living there such as:

  • Newly developed allergies
  • Aggravation of existing allergies
  • Unexplained illnesses in your home
  • Displeasing odor coming from your HVAC system

If you notice mold spotting or visible dust collecting, do not hesitate to contact Arctic Air Conditioning immediately!  We will be happy to give an honest appraisal of the situation and recommend the work you need to make their air in your home healthier for everyone inside.

Making Sure That Your Home is Ready for Summer

Having a properly functioning and powerful air-conditioner is a crucial piece of the cooling puzzle.  But there are also several other factors that can help you stay comfortable when the thermometer starts rising.

  • Make sure to change your air filter at least four times a year.  Air from the outdoors is filtered for pollution and allergens, which can lead to your air filter getting plugged up with these outdoor elements.  This may make your air-conditioner less efficient at cooling your home.
  • Be sure to check your fans in your home.  Some home owners may not know that your ceiling fans have different directions that they can spin.  Forwards and backwards.  Check your ceiling fans to ensure that the selector is in the “forward” position so that you can benefit from a nice downward breeze, plus, fans also help to circulate cool air throughout your home.
  • Avoid putting heat sources near your thermostat.  No one wants to pay more for energy than they have to.  Having a lamp or even television near your thermostat can lead to the thermostat over compensating for that heat, instead of the overall air temperature of your home.
  • Using your blinds does more than keep sunlight out.  A great set of blinds can help you keep your cooling costs down.  You can help save money by closing the blinds on the East side of your home in the morning and the West side in the evening.
  • Always have your air-conditioning system professionally maintained by a certified professional.  Having a professional perform scheduled maintenance and repairs can save you much more costly repairs down the line.
