It may seem far away, but summer will be back around in no time; you’re going to want your air conditioner in perfect working order. It’s better to keep on top of repairs, rather than wait for your A/C to give out completely. Here are 4 signs that you need to call in an HVAC technician:
1- Water pools under it:
Water builds up in the A/C; the drain pipes are supposed to move it out. When they break or malfunction, water builds up under the unit. Any time you see this, call an HVAC technician for repairs.
2- Airflow starts to get blocked:
When this happens, generally the blower fan has stopped working properly. If you notice reduced airflow, call in for repairs. If the fan is working fine, have them check the ducts for blockages.
3- You hear unusual noises:
After you’ve been around your air conditioning system for a while, you’ll know all it’s regular sounds. When a new one pops up, it’s a good idea to have it checked out.
4- Odd smells come from the unit:
A burning rubber or electrical odor coming out probably indicates over-heating. A musty scent could be a biological growth. Either of these should be taken care of immediately.
