Tips on Saving on Your Heating Bill

thermostat, saving on your heating billAlthough it’s been unseasonably warm as of late, we all know that it won’t last too much longer. Winter is coming and that means the heaters and furnaces will soon be up and running in every home and business throughout DFW. But the experts at here at Arctic Air want to help you save on your heating bill. Take a look at some of these useful tips.

  • Cover windows with a plastic film: Your windows and patio doors are a big contributor to heat loss in the home. By covering them with a clear plastic film, this will assist in cutting that loss. The film is very simple to install and if installed correctly, you would never be able to notice it.
  • Get rid of drafts around electrical outlets: If you remove the faceplate, there is a pretty good chance that there is just an open hole where heat and air can easily pass through. For the larger gaps, fill it with foam sealant and for the smaller ones, you can use acrylic latex caulk.
  • Invest in a space heater: Place a portable heater in the room or rooms that is most used and turn down the thermostat. Although the rest of your home will be cooler, this will allow you to save on your heating bill while still being able to keep warm.
